How Can I Help?
I see adults, teenagers, and couples, as well as children and families. I work with clients to help solve the difficulties that many of us experience from time to time. I am happy to work on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period or number of sessions.
Some of the areas I specialise in are:
I have many years' experience as a counsellor and therapist in a variety of settings (including the NHS).
I also provide clinical supervision for a number of other counsellors. Supervision is offered online or in person.
Background and Experience
Until 2015, the majority of my working week was spent in the NHS, as a clinician in the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) where I worked with young people and their families.
I have 15 years of experience elsewhere in the public sector, including as a practice counsellor in GP practices in Surrey and Hampshire, where my client group was predominantly adults.
My initial training as a counsellor was at the University of Reading in 1990. Since then, continuing professional development has always been important to me. I have undertaken further training with the Post-Adoption Centre in London and at the University of Southampton. In 2013, I trained as an EMDR therapist - please see my 'About Counselling' page for further details about EMDR - a specialist therapy for trauma of all kinds.
Above all else, I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, relaxing, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
Location
I now work online, via Zoom.
I am happy to answer any questions you might have, either by phone or by email. There is no obligation - it is simply important that you find the right therapist for you.
